Vieux Lyon (litt. old town/Lyon)

Le Vieux Lyon (old town) is the historical centre of the city. this is also the most touristic neighbourhood in Lyon. The buildings date back to Middle Age and Renaissance.

Fourvière hill (etym. old stronghold)

Fourvière's basilica is a big religious building. It is upon Fourvière hill. The nickname of Fourvière hill is “the praying hill”. There gallo-roman ruines on this hill.

Croix-Rousse hill (litt. Redish Cross)

Croix-Rousse is the second hill in Lyon. The slopes of Croix Rousse are an artistic and bohemian neighbourhood. The plateau of Croix-Rousse is a familly-friendly neighbourhood. Croix-Rousse's nickname is colline "la colline qui travaille".

Presqu’île (litt. Almost Island)

Presqu’île is the core centre of Lyon. In the middle of the peninsula, there is Bellecour Square. To the south, there is the new neighbourhood of Confluence. To the north,there is the City Hall and the Fine Arts Museum.

La Part-Dieu (litt. God's Share)

Part-Dieu is the business district in Lyon. This is a 70-80's neighbourhood. There are Part-Dieu train station and several sky-scrapers. The most famous sky-scraper is Le Crayon (litt. The Pencil).
