In French, a simple phrase is always structured in the same order : 1. Sujet 2.verbe.
Le bébé dort. → The baby is sleeping.Le soleil brille. → The sun is shining.Les oiseaux chantent. → The birds are singing.The subject is a noun or a noun group. It can be identified because there is always a determiner before a noun.
Often, the noun (or noun group) composes the subject can be replaced by a pronoun.
Remember : a pronoun is a tool word that allows not to repeat a noun that has been previously said.
Je ris → I laughTu marches → you walkIls courent → they runIn this case, verbs must be conjugates according to the subject.
Remember : a complement, or object, is what receives the action of the verb. In a simple sentence, the complement is put after the verb : 1. subject 2. verb 3. complement
Je mange une pomme. → I eat an apple.
Le chat attrape la souris → The cat catches the mouse.
Les poules pondent des œufs. → The chickens lay an egg.
